Places to stay
There are several small hotels, B&Bs, and rental cottages in the surrounding area, but we do advise you to reserve ASAP to ensure you have somewhere to stay. There are a couple of options below for some of the nearby towns.
Duras
A short 10 minute drive from the farm, Duras is a lovely old market town with a Chateau you can visit, and a few small shops and cafes, including a wonderful ceramics shop.
Hostellerie des Ducs (3 stars)
This hotel is holding all their rooms for the wedding guests, so please tell them when you reserve that it is for the wedding of Gideon and Thaïs.
Allemans-du-Dropt
Also about 10 minute drive from the farm, Allemans is a little smaller than Duras, however it has an old church with wonderfully weird 15th century frescoes.
L'Étape Gasconne (2 stars)
On the simple end of the spectrum, you can just call and book. If you do not speak French, we would recommend emailing them because they do have an English-speaking member of staff who will be able to process the request. Let them know you're booking for the wedding of Gideon and Thaïs.
Monsegur
One of our favourite local towns, its centre is an old market square with an art gallery, cafes/restaurants and a retro cinema. It’s about a 15 minute drive away, and whilst there is no hotel, there are several houses and villas to rent. We suggest looking up holiday rentals in Monsegur or checking Airbnb.
Marmande
This is the nearest town where you’d get off if you travel by train. It’s about a 20-minute drive away. It has plenty of shops, cafés, restaurants, a lively market, and a couple of simple hotels. We have not visited or contacted of the hotels in Marmande, however there are two that have solid reviews.
