Getting here
All of the events will be taking place at the Solnick family summer residence AKA The Farm AKA Birdhaven which is in the commune of Lévignac-de-Guyenne in Lot-et-Garonne.
You can fly into either Bordeaux or Bergerac. Bordeaux is the larger airport, so will have more car rental options, but is slightly further away. Bordeaux airport is about 1h20 away by car, Bergerac about 45'. You can also take the train from Bordeaux to Marmande, but if you have flown into Bordeaux, it is better to rent a car there and drive down.
If you want to come by train, we normally go to Paris, then Bordeaux, then Marmande, from where you can rent a car, and which is about 20' from the house. Unfortunately, because of the hub-and-spoke model of the French train network (which we love, but has its downsides), you pretty much always have to go via Paris (but hey, it's a fun city so take the day off and enjoy).
Cars and bicycles are also equally good ways to get to the farm, but from London driving takes about two days, and cycling about five (although don't ask Gideon as he never made it thanks to that freight lorry 🚛). If you're thinking of either, we would recommend going via St. Malo on the ferry rather than Calais on the train, as it cuts a good 300km off the journey and you can sleep on the boat.
Getting around
In general, you will need a car, unless you plan on spending your days walking up and down some fairly large hills — this is the countryside after all.
On the Saturday, we will have some way (which we will work out in due course) to round people up from some of the nearby towns (Duras, Allemans-du-drops), so if you are interested in this please tell us where you are staying and that you would like a lift and we will try to make it happen.
